FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
EX: After having known Edward for just a few short months, Bella admits that “it would cause [her] physical pain to be separated from him now" (Meyer 283).

In the United States "only about 30 people are accidentally killed by private citizens who mistakenly believe the victim to be an intruder." P1

By comparison, "police accidentally kill as many as 330 innocent individuals annually." P2

Many gun control laws fail to acheive their purpose, for instance "the brady law had been associated wth significant increases in rapes and aggravated assualt." P91

In some states, like Pennsylvania "almost 5% of the population has concealed-handgun permits." P129

Whille many people think that more guns means more crime "Worldwide there is no relationship between gun ownership rates and crime rates." P113

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

This book uses many statistics and graphs to show that despite what many people think more guns in the hands of law abiding citizens equals less crime. In fact criminals are scared to assualt or rob someone they suspect of having a gun. Many states stll enact laws that make it hard for people to defend themself's  and their crime rates increase while states who enact  concealed carry laws see crime rates drop.
Credibility of Source:
Author or Editor: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the editor.

John Lott is a professor at the University of Chicago and has access to alot of information and studies on this topic. He also has taught at many other university's and has published other books on this topic as well.

Attachment: Does the author or editor have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative?

The author has nothing to gain from this book. He just exposes the truth against the people who want to limit gun ownership and use fear and false statistics to try to advance their agenda.
Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?

The author is a gun owner him self and supports gun ownership. He is biased towards gun ownership but provides fact for their use.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author uses many references throught the book and plots the data into graphs and spread sheets. This add's to his credibility as he makes it eaiser to understand the data.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?

I will use this source to show that a responsable gun owning citizen  does not even have to use their firearm to defend themself just owning one can reduce crime.
